Contact Letha by phone at (520) 247-4229, or email her at ledanmorgans@gmail.com, and set up an appointment for us to come to you and your horse and we fit your horse on the spot. We carry a full inventory of Scoot Boots and accessories we bring and can probably fill your order during the visit. We can also process your credit card on the scene as well, or accept cash or check.
Taking measurement pictures as shown below and sending them to us via email or text is also helpful to give us an idea of size, and if we see any potential problems with hooves that may affect fitting them. If you have gone through the Boot Sizing process using measurements and sizing charts shown below and think you know what size you need, mention that and any other accessories you want to Letha during your initial contact and we can make sure we have them, or maybe get them in stock before we come if we don't. Determining whether you need Regulars or Slims depends on your measurements falling within the parameters of the size charts limits for each type and size.
(Note: There is no fee for us coming and fitting your horses if you buy 2 pairs of boots or more. If you buy 1 pair of boots at that time, the fee for fitting your horse is $25, and if you don't by any boots, the fitting fee is $40. If we make a special trip to come see you of over 60 miles one way and have no other fittings along the way, there may be an additional charge, but we may be in the area anyway and not charge you an additional fee. If you have friends in your area also wanting boots, teaming up can avoid that.
If you live too far away for it to be practical for us to come to you, do the following and send the below information to Letha in an email at ledanmorgans@gmail.com or text it to her at (520) 247-4229. Feel free to call Letha and she will help you through the process and answer any questions you have.
If this is your first time to order Scoot Boots, go through the boot sizing process using the measurements, picture taking, and sizing charts as shown below and determine the size/sizes you think you need. Be sure to include in the email pictures of the hoof measurements, the measurements you recorded, and add pictures of hoofs upright on the ground, both front and side profiles. Also state the type (i.e. regular, slims, or skins), and size boots you think you need so we can concur with your results. Determining whether you need Regulars or Slims depends on your measurements falling within the parameters of the size charts limits for each type and size. If you're ordering boots for all four hooves, bear in mind hind feet are usually a different size than the front and need to be measured and photographed separately.
As we will not be there to see and fit the horse ourselves, we're relying on you for good measurements as described below and this distance process can involve some trial and error and result in some shipping back and forth before getting a correct fit. These shipping costs from our end will be added to your bill.
If you don't have the computer equipment or computer skills to do the scanning, attaching files to email, etc. in the above options, but do have access to a computer to see this web site, do the sizing process, including printed pictures. Again, feel free to call Letha and she will help you through the process and answer any questions you have. Then mail all that via the Post Office to us at Letha Simmons, 373 N. Tequila Trail, Benson, AZ 85602. This will add time to process your order of course. As mentioned, we have an inventory on hand to facilitate filling orders as quickly as possible. The shipping costs will be a factor in this process as well.
Scoot Skins are the ultimate 'glue on' boot for the elite performance horse. They are the latest innovation in hoof boot technology and are superior and unique to any other 'glue on' horse boot on the market. Scoot Skins are constructed of a very strong thermoplastic urethane making them extremely robust and lightweight.
Riding in Scoot Skins will also allow you to take advantage of our proven tread design providing unparalleled traction when riding in slippery conditions. You will also be able to take advantage of the extended wear life of the Skin's soles giving you extra competitive miles.
For successful application, gluing should only be undertaken by people who are skilled and experienced in gluing hoof boots. If you are not familiar with gluing on boots and live in the the Tucson or Cochise County area of Arizona, we can refer you to a friend who is a barefoot trimmer and familiar with both gluing boots and Scoot Boots.
Scoot Skins can be left on for a trimming cycle without bacteria build up under the hoof which can lead to many hoof health issues. The Skins self clean and the entire sole of the hoof can be flushed and medicated. This special feature saves effort and the expense of having to remove the boots to apply medicated hoof packing and re glue. At the same time the Skins still allow total sole protection.
Skins do not have any accessories , but you do get a bag for them.
Scoot Skins come in Regulars and Slims, sizes 00-6. As with Scoot Boots it is best to have us come and fit your horse, or the person installing them if possible, who we can recommend as mentioned earlier if you live in our area.
If we are just shipping them to you, below is a size chart to determine the size you should need. When taking the measurements to enter this chart, be sure to take the measurements as described in the Regular and Slim Scoot Boots process earlier above.
Scoot Pads are used for sensitive soles or to assist fitting in between sizes. We only recommend you use pads if necessary. Most horses do not need pads in Scoot Boots. Using pads may affect the fit of the boots and you may need to go up a size to accommodate pads.
Scoot Pads sizing corresponds to whichever size Scoot Boot your horse fits.
Scoot Pads sizes 000-2 are 3mm thickness
Scoot Pads sizes 3-8 are 4mm thickness
*If used with Scoot Slims you will need to cut the pads to shape.
