Monument Valley is on the Navajo Reservation which straddles the Arizona and Utah border and is the largest Indian Nation in the United States. Letha and I have ridden there for a week on four different occasions in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2016 on rides organized by Blondie Bacal, and led and hosted by Effie Yazzee and her Navajo family who live in the Valley and are some wonderful people. Monument Valley is majestic and beautiful beyond your imagination with spectacular scenic riding everyday that is a lifetime experience for any horse person!!
Effie was an excellent ride leader who told us lots of stories of her life growing up in the valley and about we were seeing as we road, and she started every ride with a song!
Blondie on her appaloosa; she is a great horsewoman and a lot of fun to be around and ride with. She organized this ride for many years for Effie to lead and made a great team.
